Tomographic Sar Inversion from Mixed Repeat- and Single-pass Data Stacks – the Terrasar-x/tandem-x Case

چکیده
This paper presents the first demonstration of high precision very high resolution tomographic SAR inversion with the assistance of TanDEM-X data. The data quality of TerraSAR-X and TanDEM-X is investigated. TomoSAR algorithms such as SVD-Wiener, Nonlinear Least Squares and SL1MMER are extended for mixed repeatand single-pass data stacks. A systematic approach is proposed for the fusion of TerraSAR-X and TanDEM-X data in which the different data quality provided by the TerraSAR-X and TanDEM-X data are taken into account by introducing a weighting according to the noise covariance matrix. The proposed approach is evaluated with simulated data. The simulation result shows that the reconstruction accuracy of tomographic SAR inversion can be improved significantly by using jointly fused TerraSAR-X and TanDEM-X data.

A Tandem TerraSAR-X Configuration for Single-Pass SAR Interferometry
TanDEM-X is a mission proposal for a TerraSAR-X add-on satellite to enable high-resolution single-pass SAR interferometry. The TanDEM-X mission has the goal of generating a global Digital Elevation Model (DEM) with an accuracy corresponding to the DTED-3 specifications (12 m posting, 2 m relative height accuracy for flat terrain). This paper describes the mission concept and requirements, inclu...

For several years the technique of radargrammetry with high resolution Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) data has been used in scientific and commercial environment for Digital Elevation Modelling (DEM). Compared to repeat pass interferometry, radargrammetry is a robust DEM generation technique for almost all areas on the globe due to phase independent matching algorithms. Particularly in areas wi...

In SAR tomography, the vertical reflectivity function for every azimuth-range pixel is usually recovered by processing data collected using a defined repeat-pass acquisition geometry. A common and appealing approach is to generate a synthetic aperture in the elevation direction through imaging from parallel tracks. However, the quality of conventional reconstruction methods is generally dictate...
متن کاملReconstruction of Building Footprints Using Spaceborne Tomosar Point Clouds
This paper presents an approach that automatically (but parametrically) reconstructs 2-D/3-D building footprints using 3-D synthetic aperture radar (SAR) tomography (TomoSAR) point clouds. These point clouds are generated by processing SAR image stacks via SAR tomographic inversion. The proposed approach reconstructs the building outline by exploiting both the roof and façade points. Initial bu...

The TanDEM-X (TerraSAR-X add-on for Digital Elevation Measurement) mission comprises two nearly identical satellites: TerraSAR-X (TSX, launched in 2007), and TanDEM-X (TDX, launched in June 2010). The primary objective of the mission is to generate a worldwide and consistent digital elevation model (DEM) with an unprecedented accuracy. During the first three months after its launch, the TDX sat...
